Be Less Present

“Be in the moment.” It’s guidance given to keep our minds and bodies present when and where we are.

This single-minded focus on presence is also the biggest reason people quit eating healthy, stop wearing PPE, fail at fitness goals, and tear apart precious relationships.

For example:

In the moment, the brownie tastes good.

Right now, wearing that face shield is uncomfortable.

Today, pushing out 60 consecutive kettle bell swings hurts! Maybe I’ll take a break.

Presently, saying exactly what’s on my mind to my spouse feels great.

And in that moment, we sacrifice then for now. We choose to over value the now at the expense of the later. We toss away our dream for a passing feeling and elect comfort over long-term success.

Are we too present?
