Frederick Douglass was born a slave and despite this taught himself to read and would go on to lead an abolitionist movement.

Shaun White had three open-heart surgeries as a baby and despite this went on to win gold medals in the Olympics and X-Games.

The stories in our heads can kill dreams.

The real or imagined obstacles.

The reasons it will not work.

The rationalization on why it’d be best not to try that way.

The times it’s failed in the past.

The talent you lack.

The knowledge you still need.

Stop the story and insert this one.

History is made the deaf composers, blind philosophers, quadriplegic physicists, and even by people who are physically healthy but who’ve convinced themselves they lack certain skills and abilities.

What will you do….despite?
