It’s What You Do With It

No one cares if you are a director, VP, CSP, MBA, ivy-league, PMP, private or general, prince or pauper.

At least no one who matters.

Upon returning from a senior military education course, where I’d won an award for being in the top 10 percent, the senior chief in my unit decided to encourage and motivate me.

He chided, “Who cares about the award…you shouldn’t and I don’t…it’s what you do with it now that matters.” The chief went on to warn against wasted potential and talent, emphasizing performance over paper (diplomas, awards, organizational titles, etc.).

The touchdowns of yesterday do not win today’s game.

What are you doing with it?
