Stop Sucking It Up

In the military, it’s common advice for adverse conditions.

Water too cold? Suck it up.

Insufficient training? Suck it up.

Didn’t get promoted? Suck it up.

Sucking it up requires tremendous rationalization. “It could be worse” or “Maybe it’s a sign” are normal thoughts when one is rationalizing the current situation.

Stop sucking it up.

If Christopher Columbus had just sucked up the world map, where would we be? If the Wright Brothers had rationalized away powered flight, how different would the world be today? If you weren’t selected for promotion, and chose to give up and see it as a sign, what would your future look like?

Stop sucking it up. Change the water temperature, fight for better training, and find your path across the ocean.
