Ten People

Think about ten people you interacted with yesterday.

Whether you spent a moment or an hour with these people…family, friends, colleagues, and acquaintances.

If a third party were to ask them…”What words, what adjectives would you use to describe the interaction”…what would they say?

Would they use positive words? Would they roll their eyes? Would they smile or frown? How would your interaction be described?

If you’re truly thinking of ten people, you may be thinking of reasons for their answers. Maybe rationalizing the responses. Maybe yesterday was a good day…or not. But was yesterday really different than any other day? In a profession where we serve people…are you indeed serving people? Are they feeling served?

“How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.” – Annie Dillard
