Who Are You When It’s Hard?

You’re positive and optimistic about the future. You show concern for others and on the best days inspire your team to new heights. You’ve taken management training, leadership coaching and years of experience to become this way. And it works well.

But who are you when it gets hard? Because that’s when it matters.

When quarterly profits are down. When you lose a member of your team. When your top-selling product is technologically obsolete (try selling VCRs and flip phones today). When the safety program you implemented fails an audit. When half your team deploys and the remaining must carry the full load.

Who are you then?

Write a short list of qualities you most value in yourself and in those you admire.

And keep it tucked away for those bad days.

Because bad days will come.

And you’ll choose who you want to be.
